The Opposition was yesterday thrown into disarray after one of its affiliate parties, Wiper, refused to back a coalition agreement to replace its nominee to the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).
Wiper party had been asked by the National Super Alliance to replace Borabu MP Ben Momanyi with Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. In the morning session, Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi gave the Opposition up to midday to put its house in order but when the time lapsed no deal had been reached. Having failed to settle on a deal, the Opposition resulted to replacing one of the nominees, either Homa Bay Women’s Rep Gladys Wanga or Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa in readiness of Tuesday’s voting date.
However the arrangement backfired after Jumwa refused to yield and vowed not to step down for any one. Nasa, according to a source was last evening planning to replace one of the National Assembly nominee with either Senator Fred Outa or George Khaniri. The Speaker allowed minority leader John Mbadi and his minority whip Junet Mohamed up to Tuesday next week to consult and table two names and not three as they had earlier been given.
