Authorities in Rongo, Migori county have raised the red flag over the surge in teenage pregnancies. This comes as six girls from Ng’ou Primary School in Chamgiwadu have reportedly dropped out after they were put in the family way.
Area assistant County Commissioner Peter Nyandat said out of the six girls, the whereabouts of four remains unknown. He said his office has launched investigations into the incident, adding that most teenage pregnancies have been attributed to boda boda operators, who take advantage of minors. Nyandat said the trend has negatively affected primary to secondary school transition rate.
