A Strathmore University lecturer suspected of killing his wife on January 1, at their Lavington residence in Nairobi was yesterday released on a Sh100,000 bond pending further investigation. High Court judge Justice Luka Kimaru also ordered Frederick Ogolla (pictured) to present himself before the DCI homicide section by close of business yesterday to assist police with investigations before he is charged.
Senior State counsel Catherine Mwaniki wanted the suspect to be detained for two more days, stating that the suspect was booked in on Friday at 6pm. She told the court that Ogolla was not availed to the police as had been earlier been indicated to court. However, the suspect’s lawyers led by Steve Kimathi told the court that it took time for Ogolla to be released from Nairobi Hospital where he had been admitted. Ogolla is alleged to have beaten his wife Margaret Mwachongo on the evening of December 31, at their home, leading to her death.
