MP wants court to throw out votes recount petition

Bomachoge Borabu MP Zadoc Ogutu wants court to dismiss an application by petitioner Thomas Matwetwe for scrutiny and recount of votes cast in the area during the August 8 General Election.

His lawyer Asha Nyakundi told Justice Hellen Omondi sitting at Kisii High Court that the marked 91 ballot papers found dumped in a bush on Kenyenya-Nyagancha road raise more questions than answers, adding that the matter was still being investigated by area criminal investigation officer.

The lawyer told the court the source of the ballot papers was yet to be known, stressing the petitioner has not established it since the constituency has 105 polling stations.
