Jubilee legislators defend police

Some Jubilee MPs have defended the police over alleged use of force on anti-IEBC protesters, saying some incidents were orchestrated by the Opposition to paint security officers in bad light. Led by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu (pictured), the legislators claimed there was a well-planned strategy to have atrocities committed by goons hired by the National Super Alliance (Nasa) and blamed on police. “We have seen these acts taking place in parts of the country.

The Opposition has been making claims which are neither reported to the police nor shown in the media,” he said, during a press conference at Parliament Buildings. Wambugu was accompanied by MPs Peter Kihara (Mathioya), Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia Women’s Representative), Purity Ngirichi (Kirinyaga Women’s Rep), John Kiarie (Dagoretti South), Fatuma Gedi (Wajir Women’s Rep) and Moses Kirima (Central Imenti). They urged police not to relent in their duty to protect both the lives and property of Kenyans.
