Acting Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i yesterday clarified that tomorrow is not a national holiday and only those who subscribe to Islam will be allowed to be away from work.
Matiang’i said for non-Muslims, it will be a normal working day. “This year the holiday will be celebrated on Friday September 1, 2017. Adherents of Islam religion will celebrate the day and therefore employers should allow them to be away from work. For non-Muslims, this is a normal working day,” he said in a statement.
