Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki has decried low turnout of recruits in the ongoing National Youth Service recruitment in the county. He said the exercise which started in Nyali sub-county yesterday recorded low turnout. “I urge the youth to come out in large numbers and take up this opportunity. We don’t want you to continue complaining that there are no jobs, the government is offering you the opportunity,” said Achoki. He noted that only 15 men out of the expected 30 turned out yesterday in Nyali for the recruitment with a low record of just four out of the expected 15 girls turning up. “NYS training is very important since it also builds your character, makes you patriotic and independent and the more youth we have in the service, the less problems we will have in the society,” argued Achoki.
