Guardiola confirms Manchester City are looking to sign Danilo

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed an ongoing interest in signing Real Madrid right-back Danilo, after missing out on Dani Alves.

The Citizens had targeted Kyle Walker and Alves in their search for reinforcements on the right side of defence, and agreed personal terms with both players.

However, the Brazil international had a change of heart at the last minute and decided to Join Paris Saint-German, while Walker finally completed his move from Tottenham last week.

Danilo had been another option for Guardiola, who admitted there is still a possibility of doing a deal with Los Blancos. The two teams will look horns in the International Champions Cup on July 26 at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

“We have many options for players who are coming, but Danilo is not done so until it is done I cannot say absolutely anything out of respect for other clubs, but he is an option that we have,” the Spanish coach told a press conference.

“I said he’s a player from Real Madrid, we are talking with not too much players, with three or four players to come and join us. Not just for next season but the next three, four, five years, because they are all young players.”
