KMPDU Officials’ jail time postponed, Doctors remain adamant

The KMPDU officials were on Thursday relieved after they were given more time to resolve the stalemate that has rocked the health sector for close to two months now.

The one month jail sentence against union officials was suspended to allow them to negotiate and call off their strike.

“I will take time and review the orders and I will suspend the orders for [the period] which will expire on January 31,” Justice Hellen Wasilwa said on Thursday.

The doctor’s, through their secretary General Dr. Olunga said the union wants the Health CS Cleopa Mailu barred from the discussions that have failed to resolve the issues. The orders insisted that the details of the discussions be revealed to the public.

Several Kenyans have lost their lives due to the ongoing strike.
