The senate has rejected Governor Gachagua’s request to present new evidence including video clips to the house in his defense. The troubled politician has for the second day appeared before the senate to defend himself against the allegations raised by his county assembly. Nyeri MCAs voted to impeach the governor in what is said to be abuse of a probable abuse of office. Gachagua claims his impeachment failed to meet legal requirements that would validate his impeachment. Auditor general, Richard Ouko also attended the senate proceedings to issue a report on funds’ management in the county. The Governor is in the verge of losing his seat in the event that the senators verify the issues raised by the members of the county assembly.
