Travel ban ‘hurting Form One admission’

An education official in Kwale county has attributed the delay in Form One students admission to the ban on night travel and lack of funds. Speaking to journalists in Kwale yesterday, County Director of Education Bridget Wambui, however, said two national schools in the area—Matuga Girls High School and Kwale High School—have registered at least 50 per cent of the students placed at the institutions.

Kwale High School principal Festus Sombo said the students coming from far-flung areas have been inconvenienced by night travel ban. At Matuga Girls, principal Hellen Machuka said they have reserved positions for students who are still sourcing for boarding fees up to January 18.
