Eden Hazard reveals who his idol was at Chelsea

Eden Hazard has revealed that he used to idolise legendary Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, and was delighted to play alongside him for a season.

The Belgium international joined the Blues just after Drogba left in 2012, but the two men were united ahead of the 2014/15 season and combined well to help Chelsea to the Premier League title under then-manager Jose Mourinho.

Hazard looks back fondly on the time he spent playing alongside Drogba who, at the age of 39, now plies his trade at Phoenix Rising in the United States.

Hazard told Chelsea’s official website: “I grew up watching Didier Drogba play and he was a huge idol of mine.

“I signed for Chelsea just after he left so I was a little bit sad that I was arriving as he was leaving, but two years later he came back.

“I’m so happy I can tell my kids that I played with him, even if it was just one season.

“He’s a great guy, a great leader and you always learn from the best in football. He was such a big-game player and I still speak to him.”
